• Validity and Activation

  The SIM can be activated via www.optus.com.au before you leave and you'll be allocated an Australian number. To keep your account active you must top it up at least once every 60 days or the number will expire. If you do not add any calling credit within a 180 day period, your remaining credit will be lost. Depending on the plan you choose when you activate the top ups have validity of between 30 and 186 days so please consider this at the point of registration - choose the plan and top up validity that suits your needs.

• Topping-Up

  Adding credit to your account is simple and can be done through thousands of national retailers by asking for an Optus mobile top up and paying with cash or a credit card. Optus top up retail partners include; *Allphones, *Australia Post, *Big W, *Bi-Lo, *BP Express, *Caltex, *Coles, *Dick Smith, *Dick Smith Powerhouse, *K-Mart stores, *NewsLink, *Newspower Night Owl, *Quik, *7-Eleven, *Safeway, *Safeway Petrol, *Shell Outlets, *Shell Touch Outlets, *Strathfield, *Tandy Electronics, *Target, *Toys 'R' Us, *Video Ezy, *Woolworths, *Woolworths Petrol

• Pre-paid data

  Pre-paid data can be set up directly with Optus on arrival via their customer care support lines. Zoo Browsing & Internet £0.77p per 60KB (Charged in 60KB increments) Includes uploads & Downloads. This is based on UMTS2100Mhz where available and WAP/GPRS where a 3G network is not available. Some phones will pick up the WAP settings automatically, depending on the phone, for others Optus customer care can advise and set up the WAP settings to be pushed to the phone. The ability to pick up settings automatically will depend on how the home network has configured your device.
