Covering 120+ destinations the European pre-paid data SIM offers amazing versatility with more countries being added shortly. The data SIM will not work outside of the destinations below. Data rates are exactly the same across all 120+ destinations covered.
Data bundles are available to top-up your data allowance after your initial credit is used up, or when it expires if unused after 30 days*. Once added data can be accessed at a flat rate across all countries covered. Data bundles are available across two separate zones - Zone A covers 60 countries, Zone B adds a further 60 countries, providing total coverage of 120 international destinations.
When you add a new data bundle it is only activated once any remaining credit is used up or if your remaining credit expires after 30 days*. At that point the new data bundle becomes active for 30 days. (Additional bundles are currently only available in $USD.) Minimum data session charged in 1MB increments. When adding a new data bundle for the same zone it is stored until the existing bundle is used up or expires. Adding a data bundle from a different zone will immediately replace the existing data bundle.

Data bundles are valid for 14/30 days and will expire once used up or when the 30 day period is reached, whichever occurs first. Ongoing data bundle top-ups are in $USD but we plan to introduce £GBP pricing on data bundles shortly.
250/500MB bundles are valid for 14 days, 1/2GB are valid for 30 days.
The SIM remains valid for 12 months from last use and can be re-connected within that period by adding a data bundle. As a pre-paid service you’ll be protected from unplanned overspends as your connection will be suspended once a data bundle expires.
Any additional data bundles purchased will only become active once any existing data has been used or expires after the 14/30 day validity
You can check the remaining validity of your data and how much of a bundle you have used by logging into your account where you top up or by downloading the JT Travel App to your device – full details are available in your user guide or via your on-line top up account.
Yes, your device must be able to operate with GSM 850 or 1900 capability otherwise your device/handset will not work in the USA.
No, the SIM is a data only service. The phone number associated with it is for SIM identification and logging in to your account. However, if you download a voice application (VOIP – Skype, Viber etc) or a text app (What’s App, Chat-On etc) you can use your data allowance to make calls and texts. Please note VOIP apps, and visual or audio streaming can use large amounts of data.
We would recommend using a MiFi device for simple plug and play usage. Alternatively the data SIM card will work in most unlocked; dongles, tablets, smartphones and mifis. However it will not work in a Blackberry device. Tethering is possible but is dependent on device, network and the user’s knowledge of configuration and therefore cannot be guaranteed. To link other devices to the data signal we recommend the use of a Mifi router.
The JT Hotspot includes a USB charging cable which can be plugged into a PC or lap top to charge the Hotspot. Alternatively you can use a suitable mains socket plug adaptor and charge from the mains as required.
This can happen due to one of 3 reasons:
* Your device is locked for use with external SIM cards. Meaning, you will be unable to use your phone with SIM cards that do not belong to your native carrier. Please contact your carrier to unlock your device.
* You are located in an area with no GSM data coverage.
* Your device is set to be used with the wrong carrier. Please go to your settings menu and set "Carrier Selection" to "Automatic" or check your APN settings. See user guide.
Please make sure that the country you are visiting is included in the coverage list. 3G coverage can vary but is generally good for 95% of most destinations. Unfortunately we do not provide refunds in instances of poor coverage so if visiting a remote area please check first. Network partners are detailed on the website but may change from time to time.
This is difficult to answer and varies with each user. You need to be aware that streaming live video (e.g. FaceTime) or audio (e.g. Spotify or Skype) uses large amounts of data. As an example 100MB of mobile data enables you to:

Your Service will remain active indefinitely and credit remains valid if you use a charged service (such as making a call, or sending a text message) within any three month period.
The network will send you an email and text message notification one week in advance of your Service becoming inactive (3 months after last use). If your Service does become inactive, all your remaining credit (including the credit that comes included with the SIM) will expire. However, the network will automatically re-instate your full expired credit balance (including any remaining initial included call credit) if you recharge your account with $30 or more via Customer Service within three (3) months of last use, or purchase a new SIM three (3) months after the original expires. If you do neither then the SIM and number will permanently expire six (6) months after last use.
After two (2) months of inactivity your US number may be changed when you go to use it again. If it has changed you will receive the new US number via text message. You can ensure that you retain your US number indefinitely by paying USD $0.50 per month for each number. Simply visit www.rechargeminutes.com, click on the 'Get number' menu option, enter your number and PIN, and click on the 'Keep Number' button (in the Account status section).
Electing to keep the US number active at the nominal monthly rate will also ensure that your UK number, the SIM and credit remains active ongoing.
