• How does the UK SIM work?

  Firstly the UK SIM will only work in an unlocked handset. Once used in an unlocked handset it allows you to avoid roaming charges in the UK and throughout the world.
  
  This is made possible by providing you with 3 mobile numbers; a O2 +44 7 number, a +44 7 Isle of Man number and a +1 USA number. The UK number is printed on the SIM card holder, whilst the USA and the I.O.M number can be accessed via your Ekit online top-up account once created or via Ekit customer service.

• How do you make a call?

  Whilst in the UK you simply dial as normal. Only when you want to avoid roaming charges whilst abroad do you need to use Callback.
  
  PLEASE NOTE: It is important that you choose the correct profile, depending on the country you want to use the SIM Card in. Otherwise high costs may be incurred for improper use. For example you may accidentally use the UK profile to make calls in the USA when the USA profile would be far cheaper. However changing the profile is an extremely simple process and just involves entering a 4 digit PIN number. Full instructions can be found in our user guide.
  
  

• What is Callback?

  Callback is simply a different dialling experience to a normal mobile phone call and helps avoid roaming charges:
  

  • Dial the number including the international dialing code.
  • You will see a "Please Wait" message. The phone will then disconnect.
  • After a few seconds your handset will call you back.
  • Answer the call, listen to the number you are calling.
  • You will then be connected to the person you are calling - Your caller ID/phone number will not be shown when making a call.
  This unique calling method not only ensures that you save money but also produces greater call quality. Receiving calls and sending SMS is exactly the same as normal!

• How much does it cost to call the UK SIM?

  If you choose to provide contacts with the O2 mobile number when you travel, people in the UK can use their inclusive mobile minutes and texts to call or text you for FREE or pay the standard rate. No other SIM card offers this benefit! Callers should verify this with their network first to establish whether calls and texts are included or are charged at a local rate.
  
  Therefore it doesn't matter if you are anywhere in the world, people in the UK have the ability to call you for FREE or the price of a local mobile call. Please use our rates calculator to check rates and confirm any incoming call charges that may apply to you for the country you are in.

• Receiving a call

  The UK SIM card has 3 number options (+44 O2, +1 USA and +44 I.O.M) which provides greater flexibility and savings plus receiving calls can be absolutely free! Please check our rates calculator and coverage table for more information. We recommend primarily using the O2 network number in the UK and abroad and the +1 US number in the USA. Calls are not free to receive on the USA number.

• Validity

  Your service will remain active indefinitely if you:
  

  • add a minimum of £10 call credit at the time of purchase or within one month of your initial use of the service.
  • use a charged service (such as making a call, or sending a text message) within any six month period.
  • the USA number will expire every 2 months if unused and a new US number will be allocated on re-activation. The US number can be maintained indefinitely by paying a small monthly fee of $0.50 cents per month via the top-up website.

• Coverage in the UK

  The UK SIM Card will pick up O2 Network coverage in the UK. O2 currently cover 98% of the UK population.

• Topping-Up

  Adding credit is simple. Use your American Express, Mastercard or VISA card to add £20, £30, £50, £100, £150 or £200 to your account. Top-ups can be made in four easy ways;
  

  1. Online via a secure web site - Top-up online now.
  2. Dial 191 from your handset (FREE).
  3. Via customer service. Dial 154 (FREE in Zone 1 - See coverage map).
  4. By Auto Top-Up. Set up an automated facility online.

• Customer Service

  From your mobile phone (no charge applies in the United Kingdom):
  

  1. Dial 154 from your phone and press the call, send or OK key.
  2. In the UK and the USA, this call connects directly. Outside of the UK and the USA, please wait for the callback (ignoring any messages on the screen), answer the call normally and after 10-15 seconds your call will be connected.
  3. Follow the voice prompts to speak with Customer Service.

• Data and GPRS

  Data access is available in the UK for £0.50/MB. Prepaid Data uses the GPRS and 3G standard. (Data currently not available via Blackberry devices.)

• Compatible Handsets

  The UK SIM card will work in most handsets just as long as they are unlocked. However, the calling procedure may differ depending on your handset. This makes no difference to the call quality but it means you may need to dial using a short pre-fix number. You are also able to test the SIM before you leave. In general;
  

  • 85% of handsets - Call as instructed above.
  • 15% of handsets - Enter a short 5 digit prefix before you make a call.
  • Blackberry handsets are compatible for voice and SMS but unfortunately email, IM and data is not supported on Blackberry's.

• PLEASE NOTE

  Important Information
  

  • Your handset must be Unlocked for our UK SIM card to work.
  • The UK SIM card has three numbers: a UK O2 +44 07, an I.O.M +44 07 and a USA +1 number.
  • If you provide the UK O2 +44 07 number then your contacts can call / text you at standard rates or as part of their inclusive bundles (please call your network first to verify if a charge applies).
  • If you provide the I.O.M +44 07 number then you can be called for 13p/min via a BT landline (costs may vary from mobile and other networks so check the cost of dialing an 07924 number).
  • For the UK SIM card to work in the USA or Canada you must use it in an unlocked Tri-Band (or Quad-Band) handset.
  • Using the Ekit toll-free service means the caller makes the call for free but you pay a surcharge of 23p/min to receive the call regardless of your location as it replicates a reverse charge call.
  • Ekit introduced a rates upgrade on the March 7th 2013. If your current global SIM number begins; +44 7430 you are eligible for a free upgrade and improved rates. Your existing SIM will continue to operate but please make sure you are aware of the rates changes by logging into your account at; www.rechargeminutes.com.

• Are you visiting the UK?

  Our UK SIM card pack is perfect if you want a hassle free trip to the UK (England, Wales, Scotland or N. Ireland). All you need to do is make sure that your handset is GSM and operates at 900 Mhz. Once you have inserted the UK SIM card into your handset all incoming calls are free and international calls are the cheapest available. In fact international calls with this UK SIM card are 70% cheaper than with any other UK SIM card or England SIM card.
